Watchdog waiting for Google’s visit Nov 26 to sign protocol

MOSCOW, Nov 2 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has notified Google of drawing a protocol on administrative violation in the presence of the company’s officials on November 26, the watchdog’s spokesman Vadim Ampelonsky told PRIME on Friday.

“We sent them today an e-mail on the protocol. We’ll send a letter by Russian Post as well today. Keeping in mind that it is sent to the U.S., signing of the protocol in the presence of the company’s representatives is scheduled for November 26,” Ampelonsky said.

The authority said in October that Google had failed to get connected to the system of monitoring of locally-blocked websites, and was punished with a 500,000–700,000 ruble fine.

The protocol is drafted in the presence of the company’s representatives, who can make remarks. The document is then submitted to court.

Local authorities obtained the right from September 26 to fine operators of search systems for non-fulfilment of duties to stop giving data on all Internet resources with the information restricted in the country.
